We are thrilled to welcome Justin Wright, young adult activist and leader, as our keynote this year. Justin was born in
New Haven
and lived for five years of his childhood in
León, Nicaragua.
During his time in
Latin America he developed
a passion for social justice that carried him into endless debates with
teachers, friends and family during high school. For a year after graduating
Justin traveled working to organize the youth branch of the Global Ecovillage
Network (Through this work he learned about sustainability and became convinced
that local communities will be a key to achieving that goal. At Yale Justin is
an Ethics, Politics and Economics major. He is currently working with the
Transition Town Movement in
Media,
PA, developing a comprehensive
carbon footprint model for the borough.
To stay sane he dances and wrestles on the club team. After
graduation Justin plans on traveling for a few months, getting trained as a
wilderness EMT, apprenticing as a mediator and then who knows. Perhaps he will
open his own pizza restaurant.
